Skin Cancer is something I deal with every day in my office.? Today, I want to talk about this very serious disease and how you can protect yourself and your family with proper skincare and moisturizer and application.
Before we get into proper skincare and moisturizer application, let?s look at three very important facts from the American Academy of Dermatology Website on skin cancer:

First, every morning, have every member of your household (babies six months and older) put on a sun-protectant moisturizer that has SPF 30-SPF 50 and Broad Spectrum (preferably zinc) skincare protection.
WHETHER YOU ARE GOING TO BE IN AN OFFICE, DOING ERRANDS, PLAYING SPORTS, GOING TO SCHOOL OR JUST BEING IN YOUR HOUSE, you should be applying moisturizer. Just like you brush your teeth and protect yourself from cavities, this simple application of moisturizer will protect you and your family from both UVB rays that cause skin cancer and UVA
rays that cause aging. Using moisturizer is important to your skin?s health so apply moisturizer daily.
Also, avoid the direct sun outdoors between the hours of 11am and 1 pm when the sun?s rays are at its strongest. While a strong moisturizer with sunscreen protection is helpful, avoiding these inhibitors will greatly increase skincare protection.
Second, enforce good skincare by going to the dermatologist. Everyone should see a dermatologist every year for a skin check starting at age 25.? Skincare is not limited to the application of just moisturizer. Early detection is important to your health and critical to successful treatment if good skincare is going to be a part of your health.
Third, tanning beds are UV generating machines that are begging to destroy your skin. Most tanning bed users neglect to use moisturizer sunscreen before hopping into this giant microwave. By lying in a tanning bed, you are diminishin

The Nutritional Immunology and Molecular Medicine Laboratory (NIMML) research team at Virginia Tech has discovered important new information on the efficacy of conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) in treating Crohn's disease, a form of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). CLA is a naturally occurring acid found in meat and dairy products known for its anti-cancer and immune modulatory properties.
In collaboration with the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepathology at University of North Carolina School of Medicine and the Wake Forest Medical Center, researchers found that Crohn's patients who took supplementary CLA showed noticeable improvement. "In our recent open label study of CLA as a supplement in study subjects with mild to moderate CD there was a marked improvement in disease activity and quality of life in 50% of the subjects. CLA was well tolerated by all of the study subjects. These findings are very encouraging and will need to be verified in a randomized controlled trial," said Professor Kim L. Isaacs, a Professor of Gastroenterology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
The two main manifestations of IBDCrohn's and ulcerative colitisafflict over 1.4 million people in the United States. Symptoms include abdominal cramping, fever, fatigue, loss of appetite, skin and mouth ulcers, and diarrhea or constipation. In addition, the risk of developing colorectal cancer increases by about one percent yearly in IBD patients. Currently, there is no cure for Crohn's disease and the exact causes of it aren't fully understood.
CLA affords those afflicted with mild to moderate IBD an effective treatment without the unwanted side effects of many synthetic drugs. "Furthermore, we have demonstrated that probiotic bacteria can produce CLA locally and suppress colitis. Therefore, CLA can be administered directly in capsules or indirectly through CLA-producing probiotic bacteria," said Dr. Raquel Hontecillas, an Assistant Professor of Immunology at NIMML.
NIMML strives to develop safer and more effective therapies for human chronic inflammatory diseases from Nature's own medicine cabinet. To achieve this, NIMML uses advanced computational modeling in addition to mechanistic and clinical experimentation. "The validation of the anti-inflammatory actions of CLA in the gut is in line with our goal because CLA is a natural fatty acid found in milk and ruminant products. The fully integrated bioinformatics, nutrition and immunology experimentation capabilities of NIMML enable the acceleration of translational biomedical research from computational and mathematical modeling into the clinic. CLA is an example of an anti-inflammatory compound in a pipeline of naturally occurring and synthetic compounds (e.g., abscisic acid, eleostearic acid, terephthalanilides) with tremendous therapeutic and prophylactic potential as anti-inflammatories," said Dr. Josep Bassaganya-Riera, a Professor of Immunology, principal investigator of this human clinical trial, and the Director of the NIMML and the Center for Modeling Immunity to Enteric Pathogens.
These findings, reported in the most recent edition of Clinical Nutrition1, were awarded the American College of Gastroenterology Presidential Poster of distinction for human clinical trials.

Orbital?s Paul and Phil Hartnoll may be the landed gentry of electronic music, but that doesn?t mean they?re stuck in their old analog foxhunting ways. When I reach younger brother Paul he?s reveling in the rare English sun, programming a live set for their new album on his laptop.?We didn?t find a computer approach that was good enough until Ableton software came along,? Hartnoll explains about their move to computers. ?These days everyone?s spoiled. We?ve got too much technology. You have to be disciplined?there is no end to the recording process now.?
Orbital?s first disc since their 2009 reunion, Wonky excels at the kind of hooky, melody-driven techno that made them giants of ?90s electronic music. ?In the old days you could hear the simplicity of music that was made with only a few synths,? Hartnoll says. ?There was a kind of raw joy to it that we?ve tried to maintain.?
A band that?s headlined Glastonbury and Woodstock presumably has all the gear time and money can provide. How do they stay focused?
?I?m not entirely sure? it?s something you instinctively feel over the years,? he muses. ?The first few hours of a song are going to be the heart and soul?the rest of the time is wrestling that into shape. The discipline is knowing when to stop.?
Exposure to Detroit techno was an ear-opening experience for the Hartnoll bros, but their sound derives as much from pop as it does from hardcore dance music. ?If it doesn?t stir me emotionally it?s not working,? Paul affirms. ?The stuff that influenced me was Kraftwerk, Cabaret Voltaire?song-based electronic groups more than my contemporaries.?
Now 43 and with three kids, Hartnoll approaches music from a different perspective than two decades ago, when he and his brother named their group ?Orbital? after the London ring road near which many raves were held in the late ?80s and early ?90s.
?It feels totally refreshed,? he says breathlessly. ?We had to go away and have a break. We were fed up with each other and what we were doing. We had to appreciate what we?d given up. We came back to it wiser, and with knowledge to resurrect creatively, which is an amazing thing to do?to find that it is still very full of life.?
Invited to play England?s Big Chill in 2009, the Hartnolls were so enthused at being back on stage together that they decided to get to work on a new album. The resulting collection of tracks takes its name from the second to last outing, the zany ?Wonky? featuring the wind-up raps of voluble 23-year-old Brit-hopper Lady Leshurr.
Other tracks bear the distinct imprint of the currently inescapable subterranean bass lines of dubstep. ?For me, music is a cultural group experience,? Paul explains. ?We play music to people, we listen, it?s like one big circulated idea, a big melting pot. You take your influences and do it your way. We?ve got modern dubsteppy sounds because we enjoy some of the great stuff going on, but then there?s also a lot of contemporary modern folk music I listen to which influenced it. Influences are unavoidable because music is one big thing we all experience together.?
Orbital returns in May to reprise an appearance at Metamorphose, which was canceled last September amid a typhoon. First on these shores 20 years ago, they?ve headlined all the big events in Japan, including some of the formative ?90s raves on the slopes of Mt. Fuji.
Where will they be another two decades down the road? ?Sitting on this bench, talking to people like you,? Hartnoll affirms. ?Stopping and starting again was the best thing we ever did. We are really fired up and wouldn?t have been as inspired as we are now. Retiring once was great, but I?m not doing that again.?

'Peeta has a hard time saying how he feels to women. I have the opposite problem,' Hutcherson tells MTV News.

For the Josh Hutcherson fans out there who have been onboard with his "Hunger Games" casting in the role of Peeta Mellark since the beginning, you're clearly on the same page as the actor himself, who has told us several times that he feels such a connection to Peeta that it "hurts."
"I feel like so much of who I am is Peeta," Hutcherson told MTV News recently. "It drove me crazy during the audition process, because I was like, 'This is so me, it hurts. If I don't get this, I'm not even good at being me, so now what am I? I have no idea what to do next.' "
And when we caught up with the young man behind the boy with the bread during the film's press day, we asked if there was anything he and Peeta don't have in common.
"Peeta has a hard time saying how he feels to women. I have the opposite problem," Hutcherson admitted. "I say it too soon, so we're different in that respect. But, honestly, we're very similar in so many ways it's kind of hard to pick out the difference."
When asked whether his upfront approach in revealing his feelings too soon works in his favor, the "Journey 2" actor had no problem admitting defeat.
"Not at all," he said of his method's effectiveness. "I think I should probably adopt more of Peeta's strategy and maybe play it cool a little longer."
As those of us who have read Suzanne Collins' books well know, however, that Peeta doesn't play it cool for very long. Once he admits his feelings for Katniss, his affection does not waver at all. "Well, it's borderline obsessed and that's never good to be obsessed with anything really, but I think that he's just that in love," Hutcherson said in reference to his character's attachment to Katniss. "He can't help himself; he's just head-over-heels and hopelessly in love."

Felix Baumgartner landed successfully after a free-fall jump from 13 miles above Roswell, N.M., on Thursday. His ultimate aim: a 23-mile dive during which he would break the sound barrier.
Felix Baumgartner calls it the ultimate sky dive, and he's more than halfway there.
Skip to next paragraphThe Austrian-born parachute jumper successfully landed after a free-fall jump from 13 miles above Roswell, N.M., on Thursday. The feat is the first of a pair of test jumps en route to a free-fall jump from 23 miles above Earth's surface, during which Mr. Baumgartner would break the sound barrier as he plunges. The jump for the record books is planned for later this year.
Only two other humans have safely parachuted after free falls from higher altitudes. US Air Force pilot Joseph Kittinger set a manned-balloon altitude record in 1961, then jumped from the balloon, which had reached 102,800 feet. In 1962, Russian Eugene Andreev completed a jump from 80,380 feet. Baumgartner's plunge on Thursday came at 71,581 feet.
The test was designed to take Baumgartner into a region above the Armstrong line, an altitude of between 62,000 and 63,500 feet named for a former US Air Force flight surgeon-general who is widely considered the father of space medicine. The Armstrong limit is the highest altitude a human can reach and survive outside a pressurized environment ? either a cabin or suit. At that altitude, the atmosphere's pressure is so low that water boils away at a human's body temperature. Outside temperatures hover around minus 75 degrees Fahrenheit.
A space-suited Baumgartner rode to his jump altitude in a pressurized capsule that dangled below a 165-foot-tall helium balloon.
The ascent went flawlessly, according to the project's sponsors, Red Bull USA, an energy drink producer. During Baumgartner's 3-minute, 33-second free-fall, he reached a speed of 364.4 miles an hour. He opened his parachute when he was just under 8,000 feet above the New Mexico desert.
One unanticipated aspect of the jump, he acknowledged, was a need to get used to the amount of time the free fall takes. ?I wanted to open the parachute after descending awhile,? he said in a prepared statement. ?But I noticed I was still at an altitude of 50,000 feet.?
In addition, the team needs to figure out a better way to keep his hands warm.
?I could hardly move my hands? because of the cold, Baumgartner said. ?We're going to have to do some work on that.?
Once Baumgartner had left the capsule, small explosive charges detonated to cut the capsule free from the balloon. The capsule deployed its own parachute for a damage-free return.
The next test jump aims to reach 90,000 feet ? three times the altitude at which commercial airliners travel ??before Baumgartner takes the plunge.
When the run for the record takes place sometime this summer, Baumgartner reportedly will free fall from 120,000 feet for about 5-1/2 minutes and hit a top speed of 690 miles an hour, breaking the sound barrier. The descent overall is expected to take up to 20 minutes.
