ROSS HUTCHINS starts cancer treatment today ? and hopes his battle keeps inspiring pal Andy Murray all the way to a Wimbledon title.
Murray dedicated an emotional Brisbane International victory to his best mate.
And the world No 3 is aiming to take his form into next week?s Aussie Open.
Hutchins, 27, will be watching the Melbourne action on TV as he undergoes chemotherapy at the Royal Marsden hospital.
He has been inundated with messages of support from the tennis circuit and beyond ? and has been told his initial treatment will take six months.
That will take him close to the final stages of Wimbledon and his dream is to be in remission while watching Murray on Centre Court at SW19.
Hutchins said: ?That would mean the world to me, just as it would to the people closest to him.
?I was in tears when he won the US Open, and the Olympics before it, as we all were because we had been waiting so long for that to happen.
?If the Wimbledon final coincided with my last chemo session, which I would think is around that time, that would mean a huge amount to me.?
Murray, 25, has been mates with Wimbledon-born Hutchins ? a doubles specialist ranked world No 28 ? since they played junior tennis together 15 years ago.
The world No 3 has been in regular contact since Hutchins told him he was diagnosed with Hodgkin?s lymphoma.
But his on-court speech in Brisbane still came as a shock to Hutchins.
He added: ?As I was watching, I thought ?He is getting good at these presentation speeches because he?s winning so many tournaments? and suddenly that came out and it brought a tear to my eye.
?I was very moved when he said it.?
BRITS Jamie Baker and James Ward are in round two of Aussie Open qualifying after straight-sets wins over Julio Cesar Campozano and Boris Pashanski.
